Our ‘Friends of SMC’, formally known as ‘The PTA’ are an integral part of school life and all parents and past parents are a part of this group. They have two key roles:
- To provide essential events and experiences for the school community:
We feel certain events in school are so important for the children’s life experiences and bring the school community together. We run events such as Fireworks Night, Polish Night, Christmas Fayre, Summer Fayre, Camping Night, Discos, Film Nights, Easter Egg Hunt, Macmillan Coffee Morning and many more.
- To raise funds for the school:
Friends of SMC raises approximately £12,000 for the school per year. These funds are used to benefit all the children in school and are used for non-curriculum items/experiences or equipment that would not normally be able to afford. It is not used to boost the budget, but to enrich the lives of the children. Examples of how funding has been used include our Library refurbishment, trim trail equipment for the wooded area, annual Pantomime and enhancing a quiet area in school.
We value their hard work and dedication and invite anyone connected to SMC to be more involved.
Our current Chair is Rosie Andrews and can be contacted through the school office. They have a closed facebook page, but if you search for SMC PTA, you can request to join this group.
